The Consumer Product Safety Commission is expanding its “beta” pilot for its partner government agency (PGA) message set to 2,000 participants, and also extending the pilot for “up to three years,” or until a final rule implementing CPSC “eFiling” takes effect.
Seko Customs Brokerage, which had added staffing to handle Type 86 filings before it was suspended from the Type 86 program beginning May 27 (see 2405310031), filed a complaint on June 3 asking the Court of International Trade to force CBP to reinstate it through an injunction.

A Kelley Drye attorney, who used to be part of the Forced Labor Enforcement Task Force due to his role at the U.S. Trade Representative's Office of Labor Affairs, said the recent 26 additions to the FLETF's Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act entity list are significant because they are not companies directly employing Uyghurs harvesting cotton or in fabric mills or cut and sew operations.

The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference will meet with Canadian National ahead of its strike deadline on May 13 and Canadian Pacific Kansas City on May 17, the teamsters said in a news release May 2. The teamsters voted on May 1 to strike if no deal is reached with both companies, and the earliest the union could strike would be on May 22, Canadian National said.

The Federal Maritime Commission has been encouraging carriers to have a better relationship and more transparency with shippers, FMC Chairman Daniel Maffei said during a hearing held by the House Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation on April 30. Maffei said that this issue stems from the lack of transparency surrounding the Red Sea-related surcharges imposed by carriers due to Houthi attacks on commercial ships (see 2401290052).
The Document Image System will allow CBP to respond to filers when document reviews are done in DIS for email document submissions, beginning June 11, the agency said in a CSMS message April 30. CBP also will add the ability to respond to filers through DIS regardless of the review status for automated broker interface submissions, the agency said, and will add three review status options -- accepted, rejected or under review -- for all document submissions.
