Clear Terms

Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "China import").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD antidumping).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., CBP +releases).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted term, include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

CTPAT E-Commerce Fulfillment Centers Certification Now Likely in FY25, CBP Official Says

The Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism e-commerce fulfillment center certification likely will be available in FY 2025, said Bryant Van Buskirk, director of the Los Angeles CTPAT office, during a CBP Trade Facilitation and Cargo Security Summit on March 27. Van Buskirk said that CBP had hoped to be open to having e-commerce businesses participating at the end of FY 2024 (see 2304190029), but because of challenges in the "automation component," the release is likely to be pushed until the following fiscal year.

CBP Updates DIS Implementation Guide to Allow for Additional Review Statuses

CBP is updating its Document Image System implementation guide to modify the document review process for documents submitted to DIS, it said. CBP will be able to send users a status of "accepted" or "under review" when a document is accepted or in the process of being reviewed, the agency said in a CSMS message March 26. Before the update, a review status was available only when a document has been rejected. The review status messages returned to the filer also may now have accompanying comments, CBP said.

CBP Set to Publish AI Strategy

CBP is set to publish an "artificial intelligence strategy" with “guiding principles and goals” on how CBP can use AI “responsibly and with governance," Sanjeev Bhagowalia, the assistant commissioner for CBP’s Office of Information Technology, said March 26.

PHILADELPHIA -- Troy Miller, acting CBP commissioner, said that since stakeholders have said they're concerned that de minimis and trade cheating in USMCA and the Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement is damaging the domestic and Latin American textile and apparel industries, the department will release a comprehensive plan to intensify enforcement soon.
