The Federal Maritime Commission scheduled a meeting at 10 a.m. Dec. 11 at its First Floor Hearing Room in Washington, D.C. Agenda items include: (1) Briefing on U.S. - China Bilateral Maritime Agreement Annual Consultation; (2) Update on Economic and Liner Trade Conditions; and (3) Staff Recommendation on Show Cause Order Concerning an Ocean Transportation License Revocation.
Customs Rulings Online Search System (CROSS) was updated Nov. 25 with 291 rulings, bringing the total number of searchable rulings to 179,776. The most recent ruling is dated 11/22/2013.
CBP will move processing of in-bond number requests in San Francisco to the East Bay Document Analysis Unit of Oakland, said CBP's Port of San Francisco field office in an information notice. In-bond processing was previously handled in the Customs House and Customs Cargo Building, it said. The move was effective Dec. 4.
CBP said its Harmonized System Update 1305 was created Dec. 3, containing 37,016 ABI records and 6,433 harmonized tariff records. The update contains modifications due to annual special program staged rate reductions. Adjustments required by the verification of the 2013 Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) are also included, CBP said in a CSMS message. Ocean Transportation Intermediary License Applicants (here)
The Federal Maritime Agreement will accept public comment until Nov. 29 on a proposed P3 Network Vessel Sharing Agreement, it said on Nov. 19. The agreement would be effective Dec. 8 if the process continues without interruption, said the FMC. The proposed alliance would align the three largest container carriers, Maersk Line, CMA-CGM, and Mediterranean Shipping Company (see 13102314). FMC Commissioner William Doyle said in a statement he approved of the decision to extend the comment period. "It’s important to allow the shipping public and stakeholders the opportunity to comment on an alliance such as this that comprises the world’s three largest container ship carriers," he said (here).
CBP posted new CATAIR (Customs and Trade Automated Interface Requirements) as part of the entry summary validations recently added to the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), the agency said in CSMS message. The CATAIR information (here) relates to a new validation capability meant to make sure an importer's estimated duty conforms to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule when filing entries in ACE (see Ref:13111418).
CBP released its Nov. 20 Customs Bulletin (Vol. 47, No. 46). While the Bulletin does not contain any ruling articles, it does include recent Court of International Trade decisions and general notices.
