CBP, in a CSMS message on May 2, said that after May 11 surety users will only be able to maintain corporate surety powers of attorney in the modernized ACE portal. No action is needed to transfer the existing information, CBP said.

CBP found substantial evidence that Midwest Livestock Systems evaded antidumping and countervailing duty orders covering steel gratings from China. CBP, in an Enforce and Protect Act notice of determination dated April 9, said that Midwest Livestock imported the steel gratings in the form of “tri-bar flooring” from a Chinese supplier, failing to declare the items as subject to the AD/CVD orders.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has begun conducting its "enhanced safety inspections" at the Bridge of the Americas (BOTA) Commercial Cargo Facility in the El Paso port of entry, in an expansion of safety inspections that began April 27 on all commercial operating vessels exiting the Ysleta port of entry, CBP said in a CSMS message April 30. "This operation may continue to expand to other El Paso Field Office (EPFO) cargo facilities and will affect wait times and the flow of [commercial vehicles] making entry into the U.S. The duration of these enhanced inspections by DPS is unknown." CBP said it will "continuously assess" the situation, and updates for contingency plans will be provided "as they become available."
The Document Image System will allow CBP to respond to filers when document reviews are done in DIS for email document submissions, beginning June 11, the agency said in a CSMS message April 30. CBP also will add the ability to respond to filers through DIS regardless of the review status for automated broker interface submissions, the agency said, and will add three review status options -- accepted, rejected or under review -- for all document submissions.
