On July 23, 2010, U.S. Ambassador to India Roemer signed the Counterterrorism Cooperation Initiative (CCI) Memorandum of Understanding with India's Home Affairs Secretary Pillai. The CCI establishes specific areas where the two countries will work together to expand collaboration on counterterrorism, such as transportation security, border security, money laundering and terrorist financing, and mega-city policing.

The European Commission's Taxation and Customs Unit has posted a new self-assessment questionnaire and new explanatory notes for those seeking Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status. The purpose of the AEO Self-assessment is to help businesses understand the requirements associated with obtaining AEO status and give Customs additional information. The explanatory notes provide guidance on how to answer the questions and explain the standards customs expects businesses to achieve and demonstrate in order to gain AEO authorization.
Canad's Department of the Environment has issued a notice stating that it permits the manufacture or import of the following in accordance with the conditions listed: Formaldehyde, polymer with N1-(2-aminoethyl)-N2[2-[(2-aminoethyl)amino]ethyl]-1,2-ethanediamine, alkane bis oxymethyleneoxirane, 4,4′-(1-methylethylidene)bis[phenol] and 2,2′-[(1-methylethylidene)bis(4,1-phenyleneoxymethylene)]bis [oxirane], reaction products with Bu glycidyl ether and 1-[[2-[(2-aminoethyl)amino]ethyl]amino]-3-phenoxy-2-propanol, acetates (salts).

Companies active in any of the following sectors should consider participation: defense, security, nuclear, aerospace and space, information and communication technology, and chemical or biological technology.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology posts drafts and changes to foreign technical regulations for manufactured products which may be considered technical barriers to trade and are therefore required to be reported to the World Trade Organization, which distributes the information to WTO Member countries.
The Montreal Port Authority has issued a press release announcing that the Maritime Employers Association (MEA) and its longshore labor force have reached an agreement allowing work to resume at the Port of Montreal’s terminals. The World Customs Organization Secretary General visited New Delhi on July 22 - 23 2010 to attend a dialogue session to discuss the establishment of an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program. Indian Customs explained its gradual approach to starting an AEO pilot project in the country. Business representatives sought clarification on the impact of the AEO program on small and medium sized enterprises which are the major component of the Indian trade sector. They expressed interest in greater participation in securing and facilitating the global trade supply chain. WCO Secretary General Mikuriya also had a series of meetings with the management team of Indian Customs to review progress in India, particularly with respect to their IT system, risk management, and performance measurement.
