Adaptix Inc. filed a request Jan. 24 for a Section 337 patent investigation of Ericsson’s 6000-series wireless base stations for LTE applications, which are used by wireless carriers to build networks. Adaptix is requesting a limited exclusion order barring imports of infringing base stations from Ericsson, as well as a cease and desist order against Ericsson barring sales of the products.

A NAFTA panel dismissed its review of the 2008-09 administrative review of stainless steel sheet and strip in coils from Mexico, said the International Trade Administration. The International Trade Administration announced the allocation of the calendar year 2013 tariff-rate quotas for the importation of two types of worsted wool fabrics suitable for use in making suits, suit-type jackets, and trousers (HTS 9902.51.11 and 9902.51.15), and one type of worsted wool fabric suitable for use in making men's and boys' suits (HTS 9902.51.16).The ITA said all applicants were determined to be eligible for an allocation. The Bureau of Industry and Security is asking for applications from industry representatives to join its export control Technical Advisory Committees. The seven TACs advise BIS on technical parameters for Export Administration Regulations controls. Members serve four-year terms, and must get secret-level security clearances before appointment. The Bureau of Industry Security will hold a partially open meeting of the Materials Technical Advisory Committee Feb. 7 in Washington, D.C. In the public session, the committee will hear remarks from BIS management, hear a presentation on the impact of Australia Group and Wassenaar membership for Mexico, and hear reports on the Composite Working Group and regime-based activities. The open session will be accessible via teleconference to 20 participants on a first come, first served basis. The Court of International Trade sustained a remand redetermination of the 2008-09 antidumping duty administrative review of polyethylene terephthalate film, sheet, and strip from China (A-570-924). At issue in the remand was the International Trade Administration’s choice of surrogate data to value polyethylene terephthalate chips used by Fuwei Films to produce its film, among other issues. DuPont challenged the remand, but the court found the company’s arguments unavailing because they had earlier argued opposite positions. As a result of the remand, Fuwei Films’ AD rate for the 2008-09 review fell to 0.27 percent, and Green Packing’s to zero.
The Agricultural Marketing Service released the Ocean Shipping Container Availability Report (OSCAR) for the week of Jan. 23-29. The weekly report contains data on container availability for westbound transpacific traffic at 18 intermodal locations in the U.S.1 from the eight member carriers of the Westbound Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (WTSA).2 Although the report is compiled by AMS, it covers container availability for all merchandise, not just agricultural products.
