Warren and DeLauro Ask Administration to Detail Trade Negotiations
Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., are asking the Trump administration to share more information about their negotiations with countries after the president imposed emergency tariffs on every country.

They asked in a letter dated May 12 that the administration disclose each country participating in negotiations, "the goals of these negotiations, and where the current negotiations stand." The letter is addressed to the secretaries of commerce and the treasury, and to the U.S. trade representative.
They asked for information about the substance of each meeting. They wrote: "How will the administration prevent corruption by sovereign nations and corporate insiders seeking to influence these trade deals?"
They added, "Will the administration provide clarity on any concessions made by sovereign nations that may affect entities in which President Trump or other administration officials, or their families, have a financial stake?
They asked if the administration will seek congressional approval for the deals, and what authorities they are using to negotiate the deals.
The women criticized President Donald Trump's tariff policies as "chaotic and opaque," and said, "These policies, levied indiscriminately on nearly every country in the world, are an abuse of the president’s power and will severely damage the U.S. economy if left unchecked. This is why Senators forced a vote earlier this month on a bipartisan resolution to immediately strip President Trump of the emergency authority to implement his disastrous reciprocal tariffs."
