CBP Releases Beyond the Border Trusted Trader Reports
CBP released two reports related to the "Beyond the Border" initiative, a long-term plan meant to improve processing of trade and travel between Canada and the U.S. Both documents review and compare CBP's Importer Self-Assessment and Canada's Customs Self-Assessment programs.

- Trusted Traders Tier II Stakeholder Joint Consultation Report: This report gives an overview of the Tier II programs, outlines the ideas that were provided during the joint consultations last year, and identifies the next steps that the CBSA and CBP intend to pursue. Among issues discussed is a possible "Simplified Summary" program "that would streamline the collection of duties, taxes and fees for ISA members," said CBP. "It would do this by permitting the periodic consolidated submission of information concerning the importation of goods over a calendar month, and the single payment of revenue obligations associated with those importations." - Report on the Comparison and Review of the Importer Self-Assessment and Customs Self-Assessment Programs: This report outlines findings from the ISA-CSA program comparison and review.
