Few Trade-Related Issues Included in DHS Inspector General Plans for FY 2014
The Department of Homeland Security Office of the Inspector General listed only a small number of trade-related issues it is planning to look at during the fiscal year as part of DHS' annual performance plan. The DHS plan includes numerous planned projects for the agencies that are part of DHS, including CBP and ICE.

Trade-related planned projects for CBP include:
- Port Inspections -- Objective: Determine whether the selected ports are operating efficiently and in accordance with CBP’s policies and procedures.
- CBP’s Automated Export System/Automated Targeting System -- Objective: Determine whether CBP has sufficient internal controls to ensure that information from the Automated Targeting System that is used to assess and target outbound shipments is accurate.
- CBP’s Implementation and Enforcement of Exclusion Orders -- Objective: Determine whether CBP effectively implements and enforces exclusive orders in its efforts to prevent unlawful methods of competition and unfair practices in the importation or sale of goods.
