CBP Seeks Comments on Entry of Duty Free Merchandise Info Collection
CBP is requesting comments by Nov. 25 for an existing information collection on forms for manifest for the entry of merchandise free of duty. CBP proposes to extend the expiration date of this information collection with no change to the burden hours.

CBP Forms 7523
CBP Form 7523 is used by carriers and importers as a manifest for the entry of merchandise free of duty under certain conditions. It's also used by carriers to show that articles being imported are to be released to the importer or consignee, and as an inward foreign manifest for vehicles of less than five tons arriving from Canada or Mexico with merchandise conditionally free of duty. CBP uses this form to authorize the entry of such merchandise. The form is available (here)
CBP Estimates 4,950 Respondent Businesses
CBP estimates there will be 4,950 respondent businesses per year and 20 responses per respondent. The estimated time per respondent is five minutes and the total annual hours are estimated to be 8,247.
Comments Requested on Ways to Minimize Burden, Etc.
CBP is asking for comments from the general public and other federal agencies on (a) whether the collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the agency, including whether the information shall have practical utility; (b) the accuracy of the agency’s estimates of the burden of the collection of information; (c) ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; (d) ways to minimize the burden, including the use of automated collection techniques or the use of other forms of information technology; and (e) the annual costs burden to respondents or record keepers from the collection of information (a total of capital/startup costs and operations and maintenance costs).
