BIS Commodity Classification Webpage Now Includes Info from 58 Companies
The Bureau of Industry and Security has updated its commodity classification webpage to include information received from an additional five companies (for a total of 58) that have requested that the information available on their companies’ websites, and/or their companies’ export control points of contact, be accessible via the BIS website.

Posted Info Intended to Help Exporters Comply with Control Laws
BIS’ Commodity Classification Web page is intended to enhance procedural transparency in the licensing process and to help exporters comply with U.S. export and reexport control laws. BIS notes that any company information posted to this page is for informational purposes only and does not signify any additional obligations under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
5 New Firms' Products Include Valves, Cybersecurity Products, Software
The Web page includes a description of each company's products and services, the export control point of contact for each company, and in some cases, a Web site address.
As of November 2011, five companies have added information since the July 2011 version of the Commodity Classification table regarding the following products:
- Flowserve Corporation -- Provider of valves used in a wide variety of global industries
- Hawker Pacific Aerospace -- Aircraft overhaul and repair of landing gear/hydro-mechanical related items and spares sales
- Oberg Industries Inc. -- Supplier of advanced manufacturing solutions for aerospace, medical, defense and commercial industries
- Sourcefire, Inc. -- Cybersecurity products
- Synopsys, Inc. -- Software -- chip design and test
Other Co.'s Products Include Medicines, Smartphones, Electronics, Etc.
Products listed for other listed companies include chemicals, medicines, smartphones, semiconductors, microprocessors, aviation electronics, geophysical technology, and nuclear radiation detectors, among others.
