Below is a current list of imported commodities that are subject to Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) research and promotion program import fees (also termed taxes or assessments). This list has been compiled from AMS source material:
CBP has issued its weekly quota commodity report as of August 9, 2004. This report includes tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) on various products such as beef, tuna, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa powder, tobacco, certain JFTA, NAFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA TRQs, etc. This report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, CBTPA, NAFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA tariff preference levels (TPLs) for qualifying apparel and/or other textile articles, the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics under HTS 9902.51.11 & 9902.51.12, etc. (CBP's weekly quota commodity report, dated 08/09/04, available at http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/import/textiles_and_quotas/commodity/)
The Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements (CITA) has issued a notice requesting public comments by August 24, 2004 regarding four "commercial availability"petitions it received under the U.S.-Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act (CBTPA) on behalf of Fishman & Tobin:
The Journal of Commerce Online reports that the petition submitted by a coalition of third-party logistics providers and national trade associations asking the FMC to allow non-vessel operating common carriers (NVOCCs) to enter into confidential service contracts with their customers was submitted out of frustration that the agency has yet to act on the issue. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sources, the duty- and quota-free Tariff Preference Level (TPL) for certain non-underwear T-shirts made in one or more USTR-listed U.S.-Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act (CBTPA) beneficiary countries and entered under HTS 9820.11.12 filled on August 3, 2004 at 1:40 p.m.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a notice describing new features to its Prior Notice System Interface (PNSI). The FDA's announcement concerns PNSI Version 1.3, which was released on July 10, 2004, and PNSI Version 1.4, which is scheduled for an August 7, 2004 release.
In the August 4, 2004 issue of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Bulletin (CBPBulletin) (Vol. 38, No. 32), CBP issued notices: (a) proposing to modify a classification ruling on certain hospital garments/patient pajamas, and (b) proposing to revoke a classification ruling on certain laser units for barcode scanners. CBP states that it is also proposing to revoke any treatment it has previously accorded to substantially identical transactions that are contrary to its position in these notices.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued an ABI administrative message stating that FDA has removed the affirmation of compliance code 'FSE' (Prior Notice (PN) Shipper Registration Exemption) as an affirmation of compliance since it is not used in filing PN.
In the July 21, 2004 issue of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Bulletin (CBPBulletin) (Vol. 38, No. 30), CBP issued notices: (a) proposing to modify a classification ruling on non-electric, metal bicycle bells, and (b) announcing its grant of "Lever-Rule" protection for blood glucose monitoring devices. CBP states that it is also proposing to revoke any treatment it has previously accorded to substantially identical transactions that are contrary to its position in the proposed modification notice.
