U.S. Customs and Border Protection Acting Commissioner Ahern has named Assistant Commissioner, Office of International Trade, Daniel Baldwin as the executive business owner of the Automated Commercial Environment.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee filed a new version of H.R. 24541, "The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009" (ACES), with the House Rules Committee on June 22, 2009, in preparation for possible consideration by the full House on June 26th.
On June 12, 2009, the House Appropriations Committee approved the fiscal year 2010 appropriations bill for the Department of Homeland Security (including U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Transportation Security Administration, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.) After being reported, the FY 2010 DHS appropriations bill was introduced in the House (H.R. 2892).
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted four draft antidumping and countervailing duty ACE ABI CATAIR1 chapters, in advance of the deployment of AD/CVD entry summary type 03 and related processing in ACE.

CBP has posted the May 2009 Trade Support Network Monthly Committee Activity Report. The report states that the Food and Drug Administration is developing a FDA Drug Import DUNS Pilot program. CBP has issued a CSMS message reminding the trade that Phase 3 (nationwide deployment to all remaining ports) of ACE entry summary filing capabilities was to be deployed on June 18, 2009. This is the final deployment for the 39 volunteers that responded to CBP's original request for comments and indication of interest to participate in the entry summary test. Additional entry filers are still scheduled to be permitted to transmit ACE entry summaries beginning on June 29, 2009. ACE is also expected to support type 01 and 11 ACE entry summaries filed through remote location filing (RLF) by June 29, 2009. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted an updated version of its "ACE Workplan Schedule," which lists the changes and/or fixes to the Automated Commercial Environment (and other systems it interfaces with) scheduled for deployment from April 25 - June 27, 2009.
