Clear Terms

Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "China import").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD antidumping).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., CBP +releases).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted term, include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

Summary of AESTIR Changes for July 14

CBP has posted a summary of changes to the Automated Export System Trade Interface Requirements (AESTIR) that is effective July 14, 2010. Appendix A - Commodity Filing Response Messages - has been revised.

CBP Requests Comments on U.S.-Canada Border Security

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is initiating the public scoping process for preparation of four Programmatic Environmental Impact Statements to identify and assess potential impacts upon the human environment of ongoing and potential future border security activities for the Northern Border between the U.S. and Canada. Comments are due by August 5, 2010.

CBP Updates its TRQ/TPL Threshold to Fill List

CBP has posted an updated version of its TRQ/TPL "threshold to fill" list, a quick reference to monitor TRQs and TPLs that are approaching their restraint limit or have filled their in-quota (low) rate. The list is divided into two sections: those that are at least 85% filled and those that are filled.

New Lane, Inspection Booths for Detroit Windsor Tunnel

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Detroit Windsor Tunnel received two new inspection booths with the completion of the first phase of construction at the facility. The expansion increases the number of available lanes from ten to eleven for traffic coming into the U.S.
