U.S. Customs and Border Protection will seek comments on an extension of existing information gathering regarding Cargo Container and Road Vehicle Certification for Transport under Customs Seal, according to a notice published in the Federal Register April 10. Comments are due June 11. CBP proposes the extension of time without change to the burden hours.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection posted an April 9 version of its CF 1400 (Record of Vessel in Foreign Trade Entrances) electronic query report of the Vessel Management System (VMS), in accordance with 19 CFR 4.95, organized by entrances. CBP also posted a version of its CF 1401 (Record of Vessel in Foreign Trade Clearances) electronic query report of the VMS, in accordance with 19 CFR 4.95, organized by clearances.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection issued its weekly tariff rate quota and tariff preference level commodity report as of April 9.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said there was an incident in ACE M1 Production on April 10 between the hours of 1 a.m. and 4:15 a.m. EST that resulted in some Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) messages failing for 096 RUN HAS BEEN TERMINATED errors. CBP said the issue has been resolved and to re-submit any input jobs that resulted in that message.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking additional comments by May 10, 2012 on an existing information collection on the transfer of cargo to a container station. CBP is proposing to extend this information collection with no change to the burden hours or information collected.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection posted an April 2012 presentation on its progress with various ACE capabilities and other projects, such as the Document Image System, PGA Message Set, e-Manifest: rail and Sea (M1), ACE Truck, Automated Export Processing etc. With this update, CBP provides an outline of its goals for 2012 and beyond.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection for Field Operations at the Port of New York/Newark will continue to use the Red Hook Container Terminal for all types of examinations until January 8, 2017. That office issued an Informational Pipeline providing updated information on the Centralized Exam Stations (CES) selected to perform examinations of seaport cargo. The pipeline message said the CBP and Port Authority of New York/New Jersey recently agreed to increase security and improve infrastructure at the terminal. The terminal has been used as a CES in addition to the four other stations under a January 7, 2012 agreement, which was scheduled to expire after 90-days on April 7, 2012.
