CBP has issued a CSMS message providing an update to its June 9, 2011 message indicating the Food and Drug Administration's awareness of system slowness causing delays in entry processing. FDA identified a technical issue that prevented some entries/lines from being staged for admissibility review. In turn, entry reviewers were not prompted to make an admissibility decision.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has announced that two Ukrainian nationals, Oleksandr Skochyk and Yeveniy Suray, were indicted for allegedly importing and distributing banned anabolic steroids. According to court documents, Skochyk and Suray engaged in the illegal activity starting in August 2008 and continued through October 2009. In addition to importing and distributing the banned substance, they also illegally laundered the proceeds from the sales. The defendants face a maximum total sentence of 80 years in prison, a fine of $2 million, or both.
The Port of Los Angeles reports that the Los Angeles Harbor Commission has adopted a 2011-2012 fiscal year budget of approximately $976.6 million for the Port, a 7.4% or $67 million increase from the current FY adopted budget effective from July 1, 2011. The growth reflects higher total receipts from both operations and grants activity which in turn allowed greater appropriations for both operations and capital projects in comparison to the current fiscal year budget. CBP has posted an updated version of its fact sheet on the current status of ACE. Among other things, the fact sheet states that there are currently over 18,731 ACE trade user accounts and 38 approved entities have been authorized to file ACE entry summaries. The fact sheet also noted the release of the PGA Message Set and the June 4, 2011 deployment of Post Summary Correction functionality. CBP also posted a document providing a timeline of trade functionality that has/will be delivered in ACE.
CBP has issued its weekly tariff rate quota and tariff preference level commodity report as of June 13, 2011. This report includes TRQs on various products such as beef, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa products, and tobacco; and certain BFTA, DR-CAFTA, Israel FTA, JFTA, MFTA, OFTA, SFTA, UAFTA (AFTA) and UCFTA (Chile FTA) non-textile TRQs; etc. Each report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, BFTA, DR-CAFTA, CBTPA, Haitian HOPE, MFTA, NAFTA, OFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA TPLs and TRQs for qualifying textile articles and/or other articles; the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics; etc.
