CBP issued a final rule amending its regulations to update the list of supervisors authorized to allow their employees to testify in state or local criminal proceedings, it said in a Federal Register notice scheduled for Nov. 27. The National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America scheduled a webinar on the status of eBond. The webinar is scheduled for 2 p.m. Dec. 12.
The U.S. now has Customs Mutual Assistance Agreements with 67 countries plus Taiwan, CBP said. Under the agreements, domestic and foreign courts recognize each agreement as a legal basis for wide ranging cooperation. They also allow for the exchange of information, intelligence, and documents that will ultimately assist countries in the prevention and investigation of customs offenses, it said.
