Clear Terms

Search Primer

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match together (e.g. "forced labor").

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons to find either word (e.g. AD/CVD CBP).

Acronyms: Use all capital letters (e.g., ACE).

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., tariffs +Canada).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., FDA -alert).

Simplest form: Use the simplest form of a term (e.g. "metal" instead of "metals" or "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

CBP Updates Website

CBP unveiled a new version of its website, CBP.gov. The new site is hoped to better "provide site users with fast access to the information they seek," the agency said in a press release.

CBP AD and CV Messages as of March 7

A listing of recent antidumping and countervailing duty messages from the Commerce Department posted to CBP's website March 7, along with the case number(s) and CBP message number, is provided below. The messages are available by searching for the listed CBP message number at addcvd.cbp.gov. (CBP occasionally adds backdated messages without otherwise indicating which message was added. ITT will include a message date in parentheses in such cases.)

Hunt Named Dallas Area Port Director

Cleatus Hunt began as the Area Port Director at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Feb. 24, said CBP in a press release. Hunt will oversee agency operations at the airports in Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin, Midland, Lubbock, and Amarillo, Tulsa and Oklahoma City, said CBP.

CBP Updates Statistics on C-TPAT

CBP completed 143 total Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) validations, including 41 initial validations and 102 revalidations for 2014 as of March 4, it said in an update on program statistics. There have also been a total of 1,793 suspensions and 1,306 C-TPAT removals.

New CBP Website Coming Soon

CBP is planning to unveil a new website on March 14, said Maria Luisa Boyce, senior advisor for trade at the agency. Boyce mentioned the coming change during the CBP Trade Symposium on March 7.

Kerlikowske Sworn in as CBP Commissioner, Addresses Trade Symposium

Fresh off of the Senate's approval of Gil Kerlikowske as CBP Commissioner (see 14030712), the new agency head told the CBP Trade Symposium March 7 that he has put in significant work already toward gaining understanding of trade. The long wait for Senate confirmation allowed Kerlikowske to gear up on the trade side of CBP, he said. Kerlikowske was responding to any concerns that his enforcement background, most recently as head of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, might mean less attention to trade facilitation, he said.
