CBP is putting together an Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) import working group to consider the technical requirements necessary for AMS to take part in the International Trade Data System, said CBP in a CSMS message (here). The working group, to be part of the Trade Support Network, "will consist of members of the trade whose businesses are impacted by the Agricultural Marketing Service programs for imported fruit and vegetable products subject to Federal marketing order requirements, agricultural products subject to Research and Promotion program assessment fees, and imported shell eggs and inedible egg products," it said. The group will also include trade software developers and AMS and CBP representatives, the agency said. Those interested in participating should email Frank Korpusik at frank.j.korpusik@cbp.dhs.gov by Dec. 4, said CBP.

CBP will begin to test a centralized electronic bond program, known as eBond, the agency said in a notice (here). The test, scheduled to begin Jan. 3, will involve the use of eBonds between principals and sureties in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), with CBP as a third-party beneficiary, the agency said. All eBonds in the test must be transmitted by a surety or surety agent electronically, either through the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) or emailed to CBP for manual input into ACE, said CBP.
