Federal Maritime Commission Chairman Mario Cordero announced new positions for three FMC employees. Florence Carr was named Director, Bureau of Trade Analysis, Rebecca Fenneman was named Director, Consumer Affairs and Dispute Resolution Services and Sandra Kusumoto was made Director, Bureau of Certification and Licensing, said the FMC.
The U.S. Council for International Business named Kristin Isabelli director of customs policy, it said in a press release. Isabelli previously worked as a legislative assistant for House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich, it said..
Recently retired Assistant CBP Commissioner for International Trade Al Gina will help lead a new international trade and supply chain consulting firm, named CT Strategies, said a press release. Gina announced his retirement from CBP in August (see 13080802). Andrew Farrelly, previously a chief of staff for the Deputy Commissioner at CBP, will also run CT Strategies, it said. CT Strategies will be a subsidiary of Command Consulting Group, which provides security consulting.
Birgit Matthiesen, previously special advisor to the CEO of trade association Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, joined Arent Fox as director of Canada-US Cross Border Business Affairs, the firm said. Matthiesen will help "advise companies on trade and commercial relations between Canada and the" U.S., the firm said.
The Virginia Port Authority named John Reinard as its new executive director and chief executive officer, effective February 2014. Reinard has been chief executive officer of Norfolk-based Maersk Line, Limited since 2000.
Guidepost Solutions added John Torres, previously a Special Agent in Charge for ICE's Homeland Security Investigations, as a managing director, the company said. Torres was the acting director of ICE from 2008-2009. Torres will "work closely with individuals and businesses on matters related to risk mitigation, anti-money laundering, security, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and intellectual property rights," said Guidepost.
Michael Camuñez, previously assistant secretary of commerce for market access and compliance in the International Trade Administration, will join ManattJones Global Strategies as a partner, the company said. ManattJones is the international consulting subsidiary of law firm Manatt Jones. Camuñez will also be a partner in the firm's Government and Regulatory Policy Division and will work from the Washington, Mexico City and Los Angeles offices, it said.
The Treasury Department’s Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) on Oct. 28 named John Lom director of its International Trade Division. Lam was previously at TTB’s Office of Chief Counsel.
Akin Gump hired Alan Yanovich, previously counselor at the World Trade Organization Appellate Body Secretariat, as senior counsel in the firm's Geneva office, it said.
Paul Delaney, previously International Trade Counsel to Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, joined Kyle House Group over the summer, according to a bio on the consulting firm's website.
