The National Council of Textile Organizations is seeking a new CEO to replace Auggie Tantillo, the current CEO, who will retire this year, the NCTO said in a news release. "In the spring of last year, NCTO formed a search committee to undertake the process of selecting a replacement for Tantillo," the group said. "After vetting numerous highly-qualified individuals and conducting a thorough interview process with leading candidates, the organization intends to make a public announcement on Tantillo’s replacement in the coming weeks."
The White House has appointed two people with trade portfolios, it announced over the weekend. Kelly Ann Shaw will be senior director for International Trade, Investment and Development. Catherine A. Cole will serve be deputy director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy. Cole previously served as associate director in the White House Office of Trade and Manufacturing. The office is headed by Peter Navarro.
The Scarbrough Group, which includes customs brokerage Scarbrough International, named Adam Hill president and chief operating officer, it said in a press release. Hill, a licensed customs broker, began at the company in 2006 as an import operations account representative
KPMG hired Steven Brotherton, previously with Sandler Travis, to lead KPMG's expanding export controls and sanctions service, the company said in a news release. "Export controls and sanctions are a growing challenge for companies, and they will only become more complicated as the U.S. establishes new controls on emerging technology and new mechanisms to scrutinize foreign investment," said Andrew Siciliano, Trade & Customs practice leader at KPMG. "Our expanded service offering, with new leadership and additional experienced talent, will enable us to better assist clients as they seek increased guidance and tools to help navigate today's disruptive and constantly changing trade terrain." Brotherton will also lead KPMG's San Francisco Trade & Customs team, it said.
Sandler Travis hired Kristine Pirnia, previously assistant general counsel at FLIR Systems, as a member, the law firm said in a news release. Pirnia will lead the export controls and sanctions practice from the firm's Washington office, it said.
BakerHostetler hired Barbara Linney, previously at Miller & Chevalier, as a partner, the firm said in a news release. Linney will be co-lead of the firm's international trade team, BakerHostetler said.
Wiley Rein lawyer Tim Brightbill will be chairman of the Committee to Support U.S. Trade Laws Executive Committee, helming the CSUSTL governing body, the multi-sector advocacy organization said in a news release.
The Corn Refiners Association hired Michael Anderson, who most recently directed the Office of Investigations at the U.S. International Trade Commission, as senior director of Trade and Industry Affairs, the group said in a news release.
Akin Gump promoted Anne Borkovic and Nnedinma Ifudu Nweke to partners in the International Trade practice, the firm said in a news release.
Robert Rawls, chief of the CBP Outbound Enforcement and Policy Branch, is retiring and David Garcia, chief of the CBP Sea and Rail Export Manifest Branch, will replace him, a CBP spokesman said. Rawls is taking a new job with the Caterpillar Company, according to Full Circle Compliance lawyer Jim Bartlett's newsletter. Caterpillar didn't comment.
