CBP said it approved Inspectorate America Corp. of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, as a commercial gauger. It's approved to gauge petroleum, petroleum products, organic chemicals and vegetable oils for customs purposes, in accordance with the provisions of 19 CFR 151.13. It said the approval became effective September 13, 2011.

CBP issued a reminder that the three-month transition has begun for ACE e-Manifest: Rail and Sea. Effective Sept. 29, ACE will be the only approved EDI for transmitting required advance rail and sea cargo information and ABI in-bond transactions to CBP, it said. As of June 29, 91% of ocean carriers and 70% of ABI software developers impacted by the transition to M1 have either completed or are in the on boarding process. Those that aren't in the process need to contact a client representative, said CBP. All rail carriers are either in production or currently testing.

CBP said Oakland East Bay Cargo Station in Oakland, Calif., is experiencing a scheduled power outage. Power is expected to resume at 6 p.m. on July 5, CBP said in a CSMS message. The office will continue to accept paper entry delivery but processing will be done off-site.
Responses from Chinese telecommunications equipment companies ZTE and Huawei were due to the House Intelligence Committee July 3. Committee Chair Mike Rogers, R-Mich., and Ranking Member Dutch Ruppersberger, D-Md., asked the two companies to answer more than a dozen detailed questions about the companies' corporate and financial connections with the Chinese government. Among the questions were requests for information on Chinese government subsidies.
