A NAFTA panel will hear a challenge of the results of an antidumping new shipper review of seamless refined copper pipe and tube from Mexico (A-201-838), said the International Trade Administration. Mexico-based GD Affiliates, which formed part of the entity investigated in the ITA proceeding, requested the panel review. The collective entity, Golden Dragon, was assigned an AD rate of 5.53 percent by the ITA.
The International Trade Administration and the International Trade Commission initiated the five-year Sunset Reviews of the antidumping duty orders on hot-rolled carbon steel flat products from China (A-570-865), India (A-533-820), Indonesia (A-560-812), Taiwan (A-583-835), Thailand (A-549-817), and Ukraine (A-823-811); and the countervailing duty orders on hot-rolled carbon steel flat products from India (C-533-821), Indonesia (C-560-813), and Thailand (C-549-818).

Implementation of the U.S.-Panama Trade Promotion Agreement is “exciting news” for U.S. agricultural exporters because Panama is already an important market for U.S. farmers, ranchers, and producers, said the Foreign Agricultural Service in a blog post. Panama already imports 65 percent of its food products from the U.S., it said, and the agreement ensures U.S. exporters will receive duty-free treatment on products accounting for more than half of the current trade. Tariffs on remaining agricultural products will be phased out within 15 years.

A California man was sentenced to 15 months in prison for violations of the Export Administration Regulations by selling export-controlled microwave amplifiers to China without the required license, said Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Fu-Tain Lu was also ordered to serve three years of suspended release, pay a $5,000 fine, and forfeit 36 microwave amplifiers worth $136,000.
