Shrimp Tariffs Bill Reintroduced in Senate
Sens. Bill Cassidy, R-La., and Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss., reintroduced the India Shrimp Tariff Act, which would add a 10% duty to Indian shrimp in January, and increase it to 20% in 2027 and 40% in 2028.

Currently, Indian shrimp faces a 50% tariff.
The bill also adds an additional 10 cents per kilogram tax on all imported shrimp to pay for better inspections of imported shrimp and catfish.
"The India Shrimp Tariff Act offers a durable solution to the double standards that disadvantage well-regulated U.S. shrimpers," John Williams, executive director of the Southern Shrimp Alliance, said in a press release.
