Groups Concerned With NextNav Proposal for 900 MHz Band
Representatives of the RAIN, LoRa, Wi-Fi, WiSUN and Z-Wave alliances met with an aide to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr about their objections to NextNav’s proposal to offer a terrestrial complement to GPS using 900 MHz spectrum (see 2507280039).

“The Alliances explained that while they recognize the importance of developing complementary positioning, navigation, and timing technologies, implementation of NextNav’s proposal for the lower 900 MHz band would threaten current operations in the band,” said a filing posted Thursday in docket 24-240. The groups noted that billions of devices are already deployed in the band across the U.S., including 100 billion RFID tags “deployed across US supply chains, logistics, retail, healthcare.”
