CBP Warns of Penalties, Using 'Illegal Aliens' at Customs Bonded Facilities
CBP is reminding operators of Customs bonded facilities (CBF) of potential penalties that CBP port directors might levy if violations are found at the CBFs, according to an Aug. 22 cargo systems message. The agency also warned against using illegal aliens at CBFs.

The penalties may include revocations or suspensions, and the types of violations include approving an application through fraud; neglecting or refusing a proper order of a CBP officer; criminal convictions of the proprietor or officer of the corporation; not providing secure facilities or safeguarding merchandise; and not providing employee lists or complete employee lists.
CBFs should use E-Verify if using a temporary agency for staffing, CBP said, as "multiple operations in CBFs have yielded criminal illegal aliens who were employed through staffing agencies and were working and encountered during CBP CBF operations."
