CBP says the evaded AD/CVD duties were discovered while it was conducting investigations under the Enforce and Protection Act, including for possible illegal transshipment.
CBP's EAPA investigations this year also include what the agency describes as its largest EAPA case ever. According to the release, the consolidated investigation found a scheme, uncovered on May 29, that involved 23 U.S. importers and a network of Chinese shell companies funneling goods through Indonesia, South Korea and Vietnam. More than $250 million in revenue is estimated to be owed in duties, and that figure is "expected to rise as the probe expands," CBP said.
