USTR Seeks Comments on Participation in the Caribbean Basin Initiative

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative is seeking comments on whether member countries of the Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI) are meeting the criteria for their inclusion, as well as comments on CBI's operations itself, it said in a Federal Register notice.

Comments will be accepted through July 16.

The CBI consists of the Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Act (CBERA) and the Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act.

Countries receiving benefits under both acts include Barbados, Belize, Curacao, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Countries receiving benefits under CBERA only are Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, The Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
