House Bill Would Label Muslim Brotherhood a Terrorist Group

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., introduced a bill June 10 that would require the State Department to designate the Muslim Brotherhood a foreign terrorist organization.

Her proposed Muslim Brotherhood is a Terrorist Organization Act bill would activate “critical national security tools including financial sanctions, asset freezes, travel bans, and targeted law enforcement, to dismantle the group’s operations in the U.S. and abroad,” a Mace press release says. The bill was referred to the House Judiciary Committee.

“The Muslim Brotherhood doesn’t just support terrorism, it inspires it," Mace said. The suspect in the recent attack on a peaceful Jewish event in Boulder, Colorado, reportedly expressed support for the Egypt-based group.
