WTO to Hold DSB Meeting to Consider Canada's Panel Request on Chinese Duties
The World Trade Organization released the agenda for the June 5 meeting of the Dispute Settlement Body. The meeting is held to exclusively consider Canada's request for a dispute panel in its case against Chinese import duties on certain agricultural and fishery products from Canada.

Canada initially requested dispute consultations with Canada in March, arguing that the Chinese duties were imposed in retaliation for Canadian duties on Chinese electric vehicles and steel aluminum (see 2503250052). Canada alleged that the measures violate the WTO's Understanding on the Rules and Procedures Governing the Settlement of Disputes and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994.
Concurrently, China opened a WTO dispute on Canada's tariffs on Chinese EVs and steel and aluminum. Most recently, Canada declined to fast-track China's request for a dispute settlement panel (see 2505230024).
