UK Transitioning Defense Export Approval Form Away From SPIRE
The U.K. last week launched the Ministry of Defense security approval form 680 (F680) for its new online export licensing system. “This will allow applications for F680s to move away from the current system, SPIRE,” or the Shared Primary Information Resource Environment (see 2411080020).

For companies that already apply for standard individual export licenses using the U.K.’s new export licensing system, “you should continue to log into the service as normal,” the U.K. said. “You may notice some changes to the service as we prepare to launch F680s. We will contact you directly when you can begin to apply for F680s.” Companies that have never used the new licensing services should register, the U.K. said.
The U.K. said it plans to “transition all F680 applications off SPIRE in the coming weeks.”
All U.K. companies must obtain an F680 approval before releasing certain sensitive, classified information or equipment to foreign entities.
