Senators Offer Resolutions to Block Arms Sales to Qatar, UAE
Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., announced May 15 that he has introduced joint resolutions of disapproval aimed at blocking $3.5 billion in arms sales to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. He cited ethical concerns about President Donald Trump's ties to both countries.

The resolutions are co-sponsored by Sens. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, Tim Kaine, D-Va., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. They would affect a $1.9 billion arms sale to Qatar and three arms sales totaling $1.6 billion to the UAE.
Murphy has opposed Qatar’s offer to gift a Boeing 747-8 jet to Trump for use as Air Force One. He also has criticized a UAE-based firm’s deal with a Trump family cryptocurrency company (see 2505120036).
