Bogden, the only political appointee so far at CBP, was forced to resign, according to the Washington Post, because of his friendship with Miles Taylor, a former Trump appointee in the Department of Homeland Security who wrote anonymously in 2018 that he -- and others -- in the administration worked to thwart Trump's anti-democratic impulses and prevent his erratic decision-making from creating chaos.

Someone in the administration started circulating Facebook pictures of Bogden at Taylor's first wedding, the story said. That wedding was before Taylor revealed he was behind the anonymous New York Times op-ed piece, but the story said Bogden continued his friendship after Taylor campaigned against Trump in 2020, and attended Taylor's second wedding in 2023.

Earlier this month, Trump signed an executive order pulling security clearances for Taylor and any "individuals at entities associated with Taylor."
