CBP Amends IEEPA FAQ to Reflect Suspension of $250 Informal Entry Limit for Chapter 99 Goods

CBP on April 24 quietly removed from its list of FAQs on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act tariffs a question about limits on informal entry.

While the most recent previous version of the FAQ had said informal entry isn’t permitted for goods that exceed $250 value and are classified under special tariff provisions of Chapter 99, the new version no longer includes that question and answer.

CBP had in a notice released a day earlier on the end of China de minimis eligibility said that it was suspending the regulatory provision that lowers the limit for informal entries from $2,500 to $250 when Chapter 99 goods are involved (see 2504240069).

The removed question in the FAQ was in the “overarching” section (i.e., applicable to reciprocal tariffs, as well as tariffs intended to address fentanyl on Canada, Mexico and China.
