Chinese Drone Company Says CBP Still Holding Up Shipments

CBP is still holding up DJI's shipments of drones into the U.S., according to an interview with a spokesman for the company recounted in a trade publication about commercial unmanned aerial vehicles.

Adam Welsh, head of global policy at Chinese company Da-Jiang Innovations, or DJI, told Commercial UAV News that any claims that the company has manufacturing ties to the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, and thus risks falling afoul of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, are “baseless and unequivocally false.” He stated that “there is no justification for CBP to detain DJI’s drones and we are actively engaging with the agency to provide documentation that demonstrates this.”

In October 2024, the company originally said that CBP was holding up its shipments over UFLPA violation concerns (see 2410170052), prompting members of Congress to renew calls to sign the Countering CCP Drones Act into law (see 2410180003).
