CBP Sets New Tariff Classifications for Mexico, Canada Tariff Exemptions, Potash

CBP has provided guidance on tariff updates related to executive orders that set an exemption for goods from Canada and Mexico that qualify for USMCA..

Mexican and Canadian products that qualify for USMCA preference exemption may be filed under subheadings 9903.01.04 and 9903.01.14, respectively. Those subheadings cover "Articles that are entered free of duty under the terms of general note 11 to the HTSUS, including any treatment set forth in subchapter XXIII of chapter 98 and subchapter XXII of chapter 99 of the HTS, as related to the USMCA."

Likewise, for the 10% duty applicable for potash if it doesn't qualify for the USMCA exemption, CBP announced new subheadings 9903.01.05 and 9903.01.15 for Mexico and Canada, respectively.
