Coalition Celebrates RFK's Confirmation, Calling It a 'New Era' for Economic Security
The Coalition for a Prosperous America celebrated Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s confirmation as secretary of health and human services, saying in a Feb. 13 press release that it "looks forward to working with him and his team to reshore America’s generic drug and medical device manufacturing industries."

CPA stated that it is the "leading voice" in pushing for U.S. independence on production of "essential medicines, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and medical devices," calling dependence on China and India for these products a national security risk. CPA President Jon Toomey said Kennedy's appointment represents "a new era where economic security and national security are rightly recognized as inseparable" and pledged to collaborate with the Trump administration to "implement policies that prioritize American production, create jobs, and protect public health by ensuring that the United States can manufacture its own essential medicines and medical devices."
“For far too long, America has been at the mercy of foreign producers that routinely violate FDA safety regulations for life-saving medicines, generic drugs, and essential medical equipment,” Toomey said. “Secretary Kennedy understands the urgent need to reshore this critical sector, and his leadership at HHS will be key to achieving that goal. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the vulnerabilities of relying on overseas supply chains, and we cannot afford to remain dependent on adversarial nations for our most essential healthcare needs.”
