  • An updated Federal Register notice has been posted on the Executive Order amendment that added additional duties on imports that are the products of China, issued on Feb. 5. That Feb. 5 “Amendment to Duties Addressing the Synthetic Opioid Supply Chain in the People’s Republic of China” doesn't establish retroactive eligibility for de minimis treatment. Accordingly, CBP won't refund duties for any shipments denied de minimis prior to ACE’s resumption of processing de minimis clearances for shipments containing products of China and Hong Kong on Feb. 7 (here)
  • The FDA has updated the document titled “Information for Successfully Filing Entries of Electronic Nicotine Delivery System Products." This is a plain language document for products offered for import into the U.S. that meet the definition of a tobacco product. To avoid delay of FDA admissibility determination, importers should provide the information needed to their customs broker. The Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes for these products most likely will be associated with an FD flag, which is an indicator the product is regulated by FDA (here)
  • CBP announced that it is involved in a small-scale infrastructure improvement project with the General Services Administration and the Texas Department of Transportation at the Los Indios Land Port of Entry in Los Indios, Texas. TxDOT’s donated infrastructure improvements will connect the LPOE with the State of Texas Border Safety Inspection Facility at Los Indios, in Cameron County, Texas, and expedite the flow of commercial traffic from Mexico to the United States, CPB said (here).
