ITC Begins Section 337 Investigation on Glass LCD Monitor Components

The International Trade Commission is beginning a Section 337 investigation on glass substrates (ITC Inv. No. 337-TA-1433) after receiving allegations filed by Corning Inc. that LG Electronics, Hisense, HKC and six other companies are importing products that infringe its patents, the agency said in a notice to be published Jan. 24.

In a complaint filed in December (see 2412230044), Corning said the respondents are importing products that infringe the patent on “certain glass substrates for liquid crystal displays, products containing the same, and methods for manufacturing the same.” The products are used in "display panels and electronic devices containing the same, including TVs, monitors, notebook and laptop computers, and tablets." The ITC will consider a general exclusion order and cease and desist orders against the respondents.
