ITC Begins Section 337 Investigation on Mobile Electronic Devices
The International Trade Commission is beginning a Section 337 investigation on mobile electronic devices (ITC Inv. No. 337-TA-1432) after receiving allegations filed by Maxell that Samsung and its subsidiaries are importing products that infringe its patents, the agency said in a Jan. 17 news release.

In a complaint filed in December (see 2412190011), Maxell said the respondents are importing products that infringe the patent on devices that “relate to components and features included in certain mobile electronic devices, such as laptops, smartphones, tablets, and the like.” The ITC will consider a limited exclusion order and cease and desist orders against the respondents.
