- Electronic Export Manifest implemented three validations to promote accurate formatting in the EEM party details and destination country. The validations were made available in CERTIFICATION environment Oct. 8 and in PRODUCTION environment Oct. 22, and initially set to INFORMATIONAL. Starting Jan. 21, the validations will be set to FATAL in PRODUCTION. The codes are 640 -- MISSING SH PARTY INFO; 641 -- MISSING CN/UC PARTY INFO; 642 -- INVALID DEST CTRY CODE (here)
- CBP field officers in Chicago seized 473 shipments containing 1,507 weapon-modifying devices during calendar year 2024, CBP said Jan. 14. These include 155 shipments from January to June of 354 "Glock switches," which are used to modify weapons to make them fully automatic, as well as 241 shipments containing 948 switches during the months of July, August and September. Most of these seizures were from China and were heading to various locations throughout the U.S., CBP said. (here)
- On Feb. 15, CBP will deploy to the PRODUCTION environment an enhancement to ACE Multi-Modal Manifest to facilitate the transfer of held air cargo shipments to Centralized Examination Stations and Container Freight Stations. The release will be available for testing in the ACE CERTIFICATION environment on Jan. 16 (here).
