- CBP deployed validations for Cargo Release Error/Condition Code 119 -- VALUE LESS THAN ALL LINE-ITEM VALUES to the CERTIFICATION environment. This error code will be returned when a Cargo Release transaction is submitted with an estimated entry value that is less than the total value of all lines (here).
- On Jan. 8 at the Pharr International Bridge in Texas, CBP's field operations officers intercepted methamphetamine worth $21.2 million within a shipment manifested as tomatillos, it said Jan. 11. Nearly 2,379 pounds of alleged methamphetamine in 398 packages were discovered in a tractor trailer arriving from Mexico that had been flagged for further inspection. Homeland Security Investigations is conducting a criminal investigation (here).
- On Jan. 6, the Commerce Department initiated its less-than-fair-value (A-570-190) and countervailing duty (C-570-191) investigations on sol gel alumina-based ceramic abrasive grains from China (see 2501080041) (here).
- With a notice of proposed rulemaking set to be published in the Federal Register on Jan. 14, CBP is looking to strengthen its information collection requirements for low value shipments, also known as de minimis shipments. The proposed Entry of Low-Value Shipments rule will enhance supply chain visibility and will enable CBP to better interdict illegal shipments across U.S. ports of entry. Members of the public are invited to comment on the proposed rule through March 17 (here).
- RESOLVED: Error 771 and 613 incorrectly triggering. The issue with summaries with Harmonized Tariff Schedule numbers 85423100, 85412900, 85412100 and 85411000 not currently accepting transmissions when paired with allowable Section 301 Trade Remedy HTS combinations (see 2501080014) is resolved, as of Jan. 13 at 11:32 a.m. EST, CBP said. Filers should resubmit summaries that failed as the result of this problem (here).
