The enhancement will provide a warning in ACE when a de minimis shipment may exceed the $800 per person/per day threshold. This release will include electronic data interchange impacts, CBP said in a Jan. 10 cargo systems message.
According to an information notice on the Section 321 warning, "ACE will provide a warning when a shipment may exceed the $800 per person/per day threshold for the administrative exemption under Section 321. The threshold will be based on the estimated date of arrival for entry type 86 submissions and de minimis shipments to be released off the manifest."
A warning will be issued if a shipment’s value or the aggregated value of shipments to a consignee exceed the threshold, CBP said. However, the warnings are advisory only; no action is required but action is encouraged by recipients in response to a warning, the agency said. CBP noted that the warnings will be sent through EDI.
CBP will follow up on the deployment with an online support meeting on Jan. 16 at 1 p.m. EST.
