- In a CSMS message on Dec. 31 CBP offers guidance on the modifications made to the Section 301 China Tariff Four Year Review, increasing tariff rates, effective Jan. 1, on five subheadings of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the U.S., covering certain tungsten products, wafers, and polysilicon from China (see 2412110002). - CBP said its officers at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo, Texas, recently seized narcotics worth over $6.3 million in street value. The first seizure occurred on Dec. 27 when CBP flagged for inspection a 2022 Freightliner hauling a commercial shipment of roof sealant buckets. After conducting a canine and non-intrusive inspection system examination, CBP officials discovered 29.8 pounds of alleged methamphetamine worth $266,452 in street value within the commodity. The second seizure occurred on Dec. 28, when CBP conducted a secondary inspection on a 2007 Freightliner hauling a commercial shipment of mechanical appliances. Officers discovered a total of 2,708.15 pounds of alleged marijuana with a street value of $6,058,468. (here).
