  • CBP is reminding importers and brokers of changes to the reporting requirements of the U.S. Munitions List Category XXI Determination Number and Goods Exported Under for Foreign Military Sales Program in AES. Effective Jan. 1, AES will generate a fatal error (FATAL ERR 5C2 CAT XXI DETERMINATION NBR UNKNOWN) back to the filer if USML Category XXI “21” is selected in AES and the CAT XXI DETERMINATION NBR is UNKNOWN or missing (here)
  • An updated draft version of the FDA's Supplemental Guide has been posted in the Draft Chapters: Future Capabilities section of CBP.gov. The following updates were made for Non-PN Food or PN Requirements Previously Met, Section 10.2, deployed in the CERTIFICATION environment on Dec. 16: (1) Intended Use Code was changed from optional to conditional; and (2) Note 3 no longer indicates IUC is optional for food contact substances (here)
  • Effective Jan. 1, there will be a change in hours of operations at the FDA's office in Champlain, New York. CBP advises that shippers make sure trucks crossing in Champlain with FDA regulated products are arriving during operating hours. (here)
  • Agricultural Marketing Service has upcoming Harmonized Tariff Schedule Code Updates for Onions and Grapefruit, Including Pomelos: On or around Jan. 1, 484(f) Committee changes to the HTS and Schedule B will go into effect. AMS is working with CBP to update the affected HTS codes in the ACE system and with 1USG to adjust flagging for commodities covered under AM4 (here).
