DOE's Final Rule Amends Standards for Gas-Fired Instantaneous Water Heaters
The Department of Energy has issued a final rule that amends energy conservation standards for various consumer products and certain commercial and industrial equipment, including gas-fired instantaneous water heaters, it said in a notice.

The rule is effective March 11. Compliance with the amended standards established for gas-fired instantaneous water heaters, which are a type of consumer water heater, is required on and after Dec. 26, 2029, according to DOE.
The Energy Policy and Conservation Act compels the DOE to periodically review existing standards to determine whether more-stringent standards would be technologically feasible and economically justified, and would result in significant energy savings.
In this latest review, the DOE determined that amended energy conservation standards for gas-fired instantaneous water heaters would result in significant conservation of energy, and are technologically feasible and economically justified, according to the final rule.
