ITC Begins Section 337 Investigation on TOPCon Solar Cells
The International Trade Commission is beginning a Section 337 investigation on allegations filed by Trina Solar and its subsidiaries that Canadian Solar and its affiliates are importing products that infringe its patents (ITC Inv. No. 337-TA-1425), the agency said in a notice to be published Dec. 9.

In a complaint filed in October (see 2410300034), Trina Solar said Canadian Solar and its affiliates are importing infringing TOPCon cells, modules and panels that copy Trina’s patents related to the “structure and method of manufacturing a solar cell with features designed to improve efficiency and reliability." The ITC will consider a limited exclusion order and cease and desist orders against Canadian Solar and their suppliers. The commission is also investigating a similar complaint by Trina against Runergy and Adani Solar (see 2411050019).
