WTO Members Discuss Digital Trade Tools to Facilitate Trade

World Trade Organization members at the Committee on Trade Facilitation's April 16-17 meeting discussed using digital trade tools to "optimize the movement of goods across borders in line with the committee's decision to focus on this topic in 2024," the WTO announced.

In particular, the members discussed "using data and technology to simplify trade; promoting the implementation of the Trade Facilitation Agreement through the digital revolution and smart technologies; and digitalization of border procedures." At future committee meetings, the next to be held July 9-10, the members will discuss "formalities and documentation requirements to facilitate trade" along with "single windows," with the "aim of condensing the lessons learned by members into a tangible result at the end of the year."
