ITC to Consider Second Ericsson Complaint on Mobile Phones, Devices

Comments are due to the International Trade Commission by Oct. 26 in a potential Section 337 investigation regarding imported electronic devices, according to a notice in the Federal Register.

Ericsson filed a complaint Oct. 12 alleging that Motorola and Lenovo import mobile phones, tablets, laptops and components that infringe on four of Ericsson's patents covering semiconductor chips, cellular communications, video encryption and video controls.

Ericsson seeks a permanent limited exclusion order against Lenovo and its subsidiaries as well as cease and desist orders.

This complaint is the latest in a series of legal battles in the U.S., the U.K., Germany and Belgium over various patents that Ericson has claimed are infringed upon. The company filed an earlier complaint against Lenovo and Motorola Oct. 11 at the ITC for alleged infringement of Ericson's cellular communication patents (see 2310160010).
