APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Aug. 11-14

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Aug. 11-14 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

State-Managed Phytosanitary Program Manual: The Federally Recognized State Managed Phytosanitary Program Manual (here) has been revised to add a link to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services website including information on the Bagrada bug, Bagrada hilaris. The revision, indicated by a black change bar in the left page margin, is on Page B-1 of Appendix B: Federally Recognized State Managed Phytosanitary Programs/Links to State Program Websites.

Miscellaneous and Processed Products: The following changes have been made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information:

Chapter 3 Reference

  • ​Page 3-2 Broomcorn and Broomstraw section - entire section has been revised
  • FORMER Tables 3-23 through 3-34 = FORMER Tables 3-23 through 3-34 have been replaced with the following tables: Table 3-23 Broomcorn and broomstraw locator; Table 3-24 Broomcorn--NONCOMMERCIAL brooms and other articles made or crafted from broomcorn or broomstraw; Table 3-25 Broomcorn--COMMERCIAL brooms and other articles made or crafted from broomcorn or broomstraw; Table 3-26 Broomcorn or broomstraw

Subsequent table numbering has been revised to reflect the above-listed changes.

Seeds Not for Planting: The Seeds Not for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, 08/2015-79. The name of the niger seed heat treatment facility "ETO Sterilization" has been changed to "Cosmed Group". Changes are located in Table 3-36 on page 3-41.
